True Trance Sounds for Korg Krome from Natlife

NatLife Sounds is proud to present you our big long-build soundbank for Korg Krome family synthesizers - True Trance Sounds V1.† With a 70 newly programmed inconceivable sounds you can open new horizons with your Krome EX, Krome, M50 and finally - M3 Workstation.†

To create these sounds, we used the deepest settings of the EDS-X engine, as well as some sounds that were polished by Korg's REMS technology. Despite the fact that Krome is a digital synthesizer, we tried to change it a bit and give it a warmer analog sound, which is heard in many sounds of our library. As for the sound palette, you will find here everything that you want to hear from the top instrument in its category as well as something more that can argue with the most outstanding synthesizers of the planet. Deep atmospheric Pads, piercing Basses, sensitive Plucks and of course, powerful Lead parts - it's cover all renge of styles, from modern EDM, Future Garage, Cinematic, Ambient, Pop music to all variations of Trance music.

Igor from Natlife Sounds sent us a copy to test this brand new sound pack for your korg krome !

It was a long time since we expected this kind of sound pack for krome ...

I had myself started working on a similar project but I stopped because of a lack of time ... because yes, programming his own sounds is long!

Inserting the SD card and go for the discovery of sounds ...

I started by navigating the first sounds and the first remark to make is that they are varied :

Lead, pluck, atmospheres pad (Space one is my favorite), etc ... but not only that!

Thus, we can fall on sounds a little more classic but edited so that they are directly usable in your "Trance" productions :

This is the case for 2 pianos that I could really play with pleasure.

The basses at the end of the bank are well programmed and the super saw of the 80s are also wonderfull.

Moreover, the Fx are so "creative" that I could not help but go watch how they were programmed ...

The robotic voices are excellent, I did not think we could get those sounds out of the krome.

What strikes immediately using the sounds is the immediate link that can be made with current EDM musical productions.

Kygo just have to stand because you have something to ignite your compositions ... Everything is good in this pack, there is nothing to throw ... quickly, buy it ! It's really worth it !

Conclusion

Wahou ! What a face slap ! What a sound pack ! 5 stars without hesitation...I can't believe that some of these sounds could be generated by our single korg krome...I also have a king korg and some of the sound are so close !!! The creativity of this pack clearly deserves the 35 euros price : Pluck, Lead, voices and pads from outer space...70 programs of pure happiness. And you, are you able to make such a patch like FX Scary things and the robot voices you can modulate with the stick ? Buy it, Try it, enjoy it for sure !

It's been 3 years now that this pack of sound is out and yet, nobody hears about it ! Isn't it ?

I finally repaired this lack with an "homemade" test of this pack: The Other Side of KaPro - K0006 for Korg Krome !

Don't forget, here, every sound designer gets visibility and this allows you especially, to have a third idea of what this pack was worth)

Let's test it

My first impression, I had it with you on the facebook group Korg Krome VIP in direct live.

It was the first time I tested these sounds, just after buying the pack on the online korg store.

Here is the live, for those who remember ... We will talk about the sounds a little more in detail after this overview. Don't blame me for the quality of the video, it was a live and sound capture was not done with my audio capture hardware as usual, but with a single phone.

Just say it right away, we are dealing with a pack of professional quality.

A very fine attention was given to the settings of the sounds. What impressed me most was the effects chosen and their settings. For sure, we feel the author's experience so that the program sounds better. Most of the sounds of this new F bank, come with a drumtrack. Sometimes we like, sometimes, we stop it (as in my test) to better enjoy the sound itself.

The synth motions are excellent, we feel like a pink floyd looking for new inspirations :)

On the other hand, I did not like SFX more than that, let's say it's harder to play and I was looking for sounds to compose songs first. These SFX must be perfectly suitable for those who make soundtracks for movies or short films ...

I also liked a lot the lead synths that smell good "analog" years... just like the basses sounds provided that you tweak cut-off, resonance and Eg-int parameters, they can serve you for your "trance" songs.

In short, we alternate the hot and cold depending on what we like to do with his synth.

Conclusion

Ok, this was my first time with a KaPro pack and I must admit that I was impressed by the overall quality of the patches. Everything is pretty well arranged : The choice and the tuning of FX in programs are always perfects. Your krome will not sound like your krome because of the use of new multisamples and ... it definitely rocks ! For sure, if you like every kind of patches, this pack is a must have, and finally not so expensive 49$.

but...but...but...

There are many SFX (around 30) in the 128 programs !!! And if you do not like this kind of sounds, you should be disappointed. It could be also a bit frustating not to have some combinations in the package.

Dan Stesco's Transistor Organ Pack !

I was invited to test it, so...I cannot refuse...I would say, as usual, it's an honor to preview and review Dan's work.

Test

First, I have to tell you that I loved the first Dan's organ emulation pack. With just two sounds, Dan had proved to us that he could design excellent sounds with his system of transposition and superposed harmonies.

Here, Dan redid it and ... it works!

It's for you : Vox and Farfisa Organs ! With this pack, I guarantee you a pure sound of 60/70 ...

I admit I did not checked programs too much because all the intelligence of the pack lies in the use of the programs in combinations ... and here you are served!

Sound for rock, vintage organs, vintage sounds, I could immediately play the psychedelic Floyd or rock as if I was part of the Doors ... Bob Marley also heard me played some one of his titles ... In short,  33 combinations of happiness but not only...

You can play existing combinations, but you also can make your own, just by tweaking sound levels of each program in the combi...Try the Switch SW2 also, you will get awesome Leslie impression ;)

Bruno Mars Tribute Sound Pack from Narfsounds

Introduction

It's time to test a new sound pack for your Korg Krome !

Narfsounds have just sent me The Bruno Mars Tribute Sound Pack to test it.

Narf is well known from the Korg Kronos community (you can check some kronos sound packs from the website starting at 1$!) but this is his first sound pack for the korg krome.

Based in Melbourne, he started to program his own sounds in 2003 on a Korg Triton. So, will he convince you with this Bruno Mars Tribute set ?

Let's test by ourselves

After installing the 3 files of the pack on my SD card, I could start my krome and test the F program bank.

First, why 3 files? well, the surprise is that Narf included some samples explaining the presence of META.IMG and SAMPLE.IMG files.

The sounds are rather well made, in any case, we find the synths used in the famous songs from Bruno Mars.

The samples are correct even if some suffer from a little "noise" in the background. Nothing nasty, however : you will get all the "Ho and Yeah" you need !

Narf even though about one important point : if you do not have a 88 keyboard, think to push left 1 & 2 buttons to select the proper region on your keyboard : people often forget this, making sounds for their 88 keyboards but unplayable directly on 61 keys ;)
